Farewell WO1 Chen

Warrant Officer 1st Class (WO1) Andrew Chen has served 907 Black Knights Squadron as its Cadet Squadron Commander during its most unusual training year. Despite a 2019/2020 training year that got cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WO1 Chen remained resilient, positive, and truly put the cadets before himself; coming up with creative ideas to engage with cadets throughout this unprecedented time.

WO1 Chen joined 907 Squadron in 2015 and was always eager to learn about aviation and aerospace activities. He took part in many extra-curricular activities, most notably Ground School, Biathlon, and Marksmanship. His hard work at 907 paid off when he attended the Glider Pilot Scholarship Course in 2019 and obtained the top overall flight test, which led to him achieving the Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) Medal. He also was a successful candidate for the Power Pilot Scholarship Course in 2020.

WO1 Chen has also led and mentored our senior cadets by reminding them that the cadets come first and that their success directly reflects the performance of the senior cadets, as well as the legacy of 907.

The cadets and staff are truly grateful to have such an outstanding individual command 907 and navigate it through this turbulent time.

WO1 Chen will have an opportunity to formally address the squadron once we return to parading normally. Until then, we wish him nothing but blue skies and tailwinds in his future.
