VERNE BROWN RANGE AWARD

The Verne Brown Range Award is presented to a member of the Squadron’s optional marksmanship team who is determined to be the team’s top shot. This award is determined by our Chief Range Instructor, CI Verne Brown, who has always believed in presenting an award for excellence in marksmanship as determined by averaging all the targets shot during the training year. This trophy was donated to 907 Squadron by the Squadron’s Sponsoring Committee in honour of CI Brown’s dedication to the Sqn’s marksmanship program. Since it’s inception, standing shooting has been introduced, and on occasion different cadets attain each of the two categories of shooting.

VERNE CAMERON “ABOVE AND BEYOND” AWARD

The Verne Cameron “Above and Beyond” Award was donated by the 907 Sqn Sponsoring Committee in recognition of a truly amazing gentleman who was always there working behind the scenes for 907 Sqn’s cadets.

Mr. Verne Cameron was a grandfather with no family members in the cadet program, who was 907 Sqn’s 1st Sponsoring Committee Chair. Upon completion of his term, he continued to volunteer with the Squadron. Mr. Cameron rarely missed a shift of tag days and was there for every special parade and Squadron event. He truly was a volunteer who donated his time above and beyond. Mr. Cameron unfortunately passed away in September 2017.

This Award is intended to honour a cadet who, like Mr. Cameron, regularly participates at all events and who is always willing to go Above and Beyond for the Squadron.

TOP CADET OF THE YEAR

This award is chosen by the staff of 907 Squadron.
