In the fall of 2000, the British Columbia Provincial Committee of the Air Cadet League of Canada and the Pacific Region Support Unit recognized the need for an Air Cadet Squadron in the White Rock community. Negotiations and the organizational requirements commenced and in April 2001, Elks Lodge #431, White Rock, agreed to be the Sponsor for the new Squadron while 819 Skyhawk Squadron of North Delta agreed to be a support unit for the new Squadron.
Initially, 12 Cadets joined what was then the White Rock Flight of 819 Squadron. During the summer break, additional Cadets enrolled bringing the number to 24.
At the commencement of the 2001-02 Cadet Year, another 40 Cadets joined bringing the total to 64. Some Cadets, particularly NCOs, transferred from the neighboring 746 and 819 Squadrons helping form the “core” group of the Squadron.
By December of 2001, the enrollment had reached 90+ validating the original decision to form a White Rock Squadron. The “Squadron” had now outgrown the Elks Lodge on George Street and in February 2002, the Cadets moved to the Star-of-the-Sea Hall on Pacific Avenue, White Rock.
At the Annual Review on June 2, 2002 the Cadets were formally presented with their Charter as 907 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets, White Rock.
In September 2003, the Squadron moved to the Emmanuel Evangelical Covenant Church in South Surrey. The Squadron now has excellent facilities with classrooms, a permanent office/storage room for Staff and room for Parades inside and practices outside. The Covenant Church supports the Cadet Movement and wishes to see the Squadron grow and prosper and is willing to work with the Squadron. In 2012, the Squadron underwent a name change to the 907 Black Knights Squadron.
Since its inception in 2001, 907 Black Knights Squadron has had eight Commanding Officers:
- Major Monty Cross
