This month, we said farewell to WO1 Ursulesku, who ages out of 907 Squadron.
WO1 Ursulesku joined 907 in 2015 with a keen interest in adventure and experiencing new activities. She took that will for adventure with her when she obtained medal standing results on the Squadron biathlon team for several years, as well as excelled in fitness, sports, and coaching; which led her to complete the Fitness and Sports Instructor Course in 2018, as well as obtain the Lord Strathcona Medal in 2020.
Within local Squadron training, she has served as Spitfire Flight Commander in the shortened 2019/2020 training year and has excelled in leadership opportunities with sports, FTX’s, and any other extra-curricular activity held at 907. Her poise, maturity, and hard work is strongly desired by many and personifies the model cadet we all strive to become.
Sadly, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic continuing to force all events to happen virtually, she is not able to address the cadets at large in a traditional parade prior to her departure. However, she has formed a speech outlined below:
I am sad to be leaving the cadet program after 6 years. I have made so many friends from all over the country. Cadets has allowed me to grow and become who I am today. I want to thank all of the officers for teaching me so much, and my peers for keeping me going. I have created so many amazing memories that I will remember forever. Thank you to CI Martin for sharing her love for biathlon and always giving me the support I needed. I will miss being a part of the biathlon family. I am very proud to be a part of 907 Black Knights Squadron and I hope that everyone will continue to strive for their best even under these difficult circumstances. I look forward to volunteering with the program in the future and watching you all grow soon.
